AGA Mission statement

AGA serves professionals in the government financial management community by providing quality education, fostering professional development and certification, and supporting standards and research to advance government accountability.

President's Message

As the autumn leaves begin turning colors and the chill in the air reminds us to prepare for the upcoming winter holiday season, we need to remember those less fortunate members of our community.  Again this year, we will be assisting those needing assistance by donating cash, food items, household supplies and personal care items, and toys to both the Harvesters Food Network and Toys for Tots.  Please help these worthy community service organizations by bringing such items to the November and December chapter meetings.  Your financial and material support will brighten the lives of many in the Greater Kansas City area.

Also at this time of the year, I would like to thank you, our members, for your continued support of our chapter and wish every one of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!  Thanks especially to those who attended our chapter’s October meeting.  Mr. Tony Mangoff made a wonderful presentation on the current status and past efforts concerning the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley.  Thanks also to the four individuals who joined AGA as a result of this meeting.

Here’s what’s coming up in our chapter in the next few months.  On November 14th, Patti Bossert and Phil Gulien will speak on the “Changing Landscape in the War for Accounting Talent.”  Our 2008 Spring Seminar is tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2008.  Kansas City Mayor, Mark Funkhouser and Missouri State Auditor, Susan Montee are among the speakers planned for this seminar.  We are also working with AGA National Office to have National AGA President – Elect, Sam Mok,   speak at this event!  More information regarding this seminar will be forthcoming in the next few months.  Two audio conferences will be held as follows:

November 14th - Tools for Performance Audit Efficiency
December 12th - Anatomy of Fraud: Case Examples of Greed, Collusion & Override of Controls

Attendees to these audio conferences will earn 2 hours of CPE credit.  Again, Happy Thanksgiving!
