Awards & Scholarships

Local Chapter Awards


The following awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Ceremony to recognize individuals for their contributions to AGA:

* Member of the Year Award - recognizes an individual’s extraordinary efforts in supporting AGA. The award will be given based on the member's participation in Chapter activities during the year. Points may be accumulated for meeting attendance, new member sponsorship, Chapter meeting program activities, fundraising, community service participation, presentations, articles, publications, and overall Chapter service.


* Community Service Award - Formally recognizes a member’s efforts and commitment in supporting the Chapter’s various activities. The member who accumulates the most community service points will be the recipient of this award (other than the Community Service Committee chairperson).


* Clifford M. Buck Chapter Service Award - Recognizes the member who has provided the greatest contribution or service to the Chapter over an extended period of time. Eligible chapter member s should be nominated* for this award by other members.


* Sponsor Award - Recognizes member(s) who have shared the benefits of AGA membership with the most number of people by sponsoring them as new members.


* Special Achievement Award - Recognizes younger (under age 35) AGA members for notable contributions toward improving financial management during the year. Members eligible for this award should be nominated* by their managers.


* President's Special Award - Is given at the discretion of the Chapter President to the member(s), recognizing individuals for special initiatives or acts performed during the year that helped the Chapter be successful.

*Nominations must include these four sections:
I. Contact Information

i. The nominator’s signature, full address and telephone number
ii. The nominee’s name with designations (e.g., CPA, CGFM, etc.) as it might appear on an award
iii. The nominee’s position and title
iv. The nominee’s full address and phone number

II. Biographical Sketch of Nominee - Include the nominee’s education and any other pertinent background information that will assist in evaluating the nominee’s achievements.

 

III. Award Justification - Describe in specific terms the contribution that justifies the nomination.


IV. Citation - For the formal award citation, succinctly describe highlights of the nominee’s accomplishments

 

Local Chapter Scholarships

 

2006 - 2007 Local Chapter Scholarship
Ian Smith was the recipient of the 2006-2007 Kansas City AGA Scholarship. Ian is the son of fellow AGA member, Connie Smith. Ian presented his high academic achievements and a desire to assist his community. Not only is Ian an outstanding scholar but he is a young individual who has given a great amount back to his community. Some of Ian’s community service activities include the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, collecting donations for Temporary Lodging for Children & Families, and Meals on Wheels, to name a few. Ian has also been very active in Boy Scouts for a number years.

 

2007 – 2008 Local Chapter Scholarships
Scholarships are available for High School students, and students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees with the potential for making a meaningful contribution to public financial management. For applications, guidelines and eligibility criteria see attached: Scholarship Application
